We are delighted to invite you to our Patient governors.pngnext Medicine for Members' event ‘Leading the fight against cancer: groundbreaking research at the Royal Free London’. It will take place on Tuesday 6 May from 6pm.

You will have the chance to hear from expert clinicians at the Royal Free London (RFL) about how cutting-edge research is transforming cancer care and treatment.

Cancer is on the rise – it is estimated that 3.5 million people in the UK are living with the disease and by 2040, one person will be diagnosed with cancer every minute when new cases are expected to rise to half a million a year.

As one of the largest cancer care providers in the NHS, the RFL is already at the heart of tackling this devastating disease. Improving care for those with cancer forms a key pillar of our five-year clinical vision and our commitment goes beyond treatment, with research at the forefront of our approach.

During the event, the groundbreaking research taking place in our clinical research facility will be showcased. This includes a study looking at whether giving new immunotherapy treatments to patients with early-stage liver cancer will help prevent the disease returning in the future.

You will also gain an insight into the new therapies and treatments that have been made available to our patients through research.

There will be an interactive Q&A where you can ask our speakers questions. If you would like to submit these in advance, please contact rf-tr.membership@nhs.net by 5pm on Thursday 1 May.

This event is free and open to patients, carers, staff and members of the public as well as our trust membership. You do not need to be a member to attend the event.

To book your place, please email rf-tr.membership@nhs.net by 5pm on Thursday 1 May. Once you have registered, further details on how you can join the event will be sent to you.

This event will be chaired by patient governor Tatiana Votinova and streamed online using Microsoft Teams.
