The Royal Free Charity has launched its 2024 winter appeal, and is calling on staff, the local community and schools across north central London to get their hands up for their hospitals.
By putting your hands up for your hospital, you can help the charity to continue to deliver vital services that support you and your colleagues, as well as 1.6 million patients we care for across our sites and services.
Money raised will help the charity to continue to provide its directly-delivered services to our staff and patients, including:
- a complementary therapy service providing specialised therapeutic massages to patients and staff;
- a support hub providing housing, financial and benefits advice to patients with long-term health conditions;
- one of the NHS’s largest and most advanced volunteering services. Our purple-shirted volunteers bolster the care we give our patients with companionship to patients with dementia, help with mealtimes on wards, pet therapy — and much more.
There are lots of ways to put your hands up for your hospital:
- Handmake: get crafty and sell what you’ve made.
- Hand in: donate money you’d usually spend on take-away coffees.
- Hands on: take on a sponsored physical challenge.
Jon Spiers, chief executive of the Royal Free Charity, said:
“Whether it’s through our amazing volunteers, our incredible complementary therapists or our unique support hub offering welfare and benefits advice, we bolster the care that patients receive at our Royal Free London hospitals.
“We’re asking our local communities to lend a helping hand this winter so we can continue to provide these much-loved and valued services.”
