Work is currently underway building Rainbow ward - a new modular unit at Barnet Hospital. Rainbow ward will open this autumn, providing 35 new beds to support the care of patients receiving medical in-patient care.
We’re excited to share a first look at the new ward, which is currently under construction. As you’ll see, there is still a lot of work to do before we open our doors to patients – but it’s fantastic to see how much has been achieved in just a few short months since building work started.
Staff at the hospital were invited to play their part in the development by helping to name the new ward. After receiving more than 200 suggestions, Rainbow ward emerged as the clear favourite.
This was not only the most popular name, but also the one which perfectly captures the spirit of our hospitals. Over the past few months rainbows have become a key symbol of support for the NHS, reflecting the incredible hard work of our staff in the response to COVID-19.
We look forward to sharing more information about our new ward in the coming weeks.
