North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust has become an accredited London Living Wage employer from the Living Wage Foundation.

The Living Wage is a wage rate that is calculated based on the cost of living – it accounts for things like housing, heating, and childcare. This is the is the only wage rate that is based on living costs and is independently calculated by the foundation to identify what people need to get by.

North Mid directly employs over 4000 staff, and earlier this year, it made a commitment to pay all staff - including those employed by our partners and agency workers - the real London Living wage. In September, this commitment became a reality, with pay amongst all our staff reflecting the higher level.

Dr Nnenna Osuji, Chief Executive of North Mid, stated, "As the cost of living rises, it's incredibly important that North Mid can do all it can to ease the pressure on our hardworking staff who help provide outstanding care for local people.

“We are a large local employer with deep roots within the community and as such we are committed in leading the way in being an employer of choice for the people. Many of our staff members live locally and we want to continue to invest into the vitality of the community, this is our duty as an anchor organisation. Paying the Living Wage not only addresses some of the challenges posed by rising living costs but also highlights our commitment to fairly compensate our dedicated staff for their invaluable contributions”.
