North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust’s #ThisIsMe programme has been shortlisted for the NHS Communications Initiative of the Year Award at the HSJ Awards 2023.
The #ThisIsMe programme is North Mid’s person-centred approach to celebrating difference and diversity, developed and delivered in-house, which showcases individual experiences into a shared library of personal narratives that illustrate the strength which diversity brings to our Trust.
The programme has been an incredible success since its inception 18 months ago. In nearly 150 personal responses, and reaching 47% of workforce, staff have described that seeing their own and colleagues’ experiences – both similar to theirs and very different - has given them new insight and perspectives on working at North Mid and in the NHS.
Dr Nnenna Osuji, chief executive of North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust, said: “I’m thrilled that we have been nationally recognised for the innovative way we engaged our staff to celebrate their uniqueness.
"North Mid is proud of the diversity of both our workforce and the community we are at the heart of, and #ThisIsMe is a unique approach to celebrating these strengths, while contributing to the delivery of being a compassionate and fair organisation. It reminds us of the value of ‘the little things’ in the midst of challenge, and the value they bring to our staff and people. All of us at North Mid have our fingers crossed for awards ceremony in November.”
