A new risk and resuscitation team (PARRT) has been launched at Barnet Hospital, providing additional support for deteriorating patients.
In the past outreach nurses based in ITU have provided support to the wards in managing acutely unwell patients. They have not always been available to provide cover due to pressures in ITU which has left wards uncertain of who to call if they have a concern. The introduction of the PARRT team, which has already been successfully launched at the Royal Free Hospital, means there is a dedicated team with clear responsibility for providing support for deteriorating patients.
Fiona Morcom, the lead nurse specialist in charge of the new team, said “I am excited that the very successful PARRT concept has arrived at Barnet. I am confident that working alongside all our colleagues, we can make a significant and positive contribution to the care of acutely unwell patients in our care.”
