The radiotherapy and medical physics department at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust has received national accreditation for its cancer care.
The CHKS accreditation process means that independent assessors visit departments across the country to carry out quality benchmarking inspections, helping to make sure that patients get the best possible care.
Staff were praised for providing timely, compassionate and evidence-based care to cancer patients treated at North Mid. The assessors were particularly impressed with the pride in which the team carry out their service, as well as the humility in how they do it.
Sharif Shaykhoun, head of radiotherapy, praised the team for their efforts to continually improving the quality of their service, making it an exemplar for care across the country. He said: “Achieving this accreditation was a huge team effort and each and every one of them has played a vital role in getting us to this point. I’d like to thank them for their dedication to patients and for the positive and professional manner they’ve shown in gaining accreditation.
In undertaking CHKS accreditation, healthcare organisations embark on a journey of quality to enhance and improve productivity, performance, patient experience and outcomes. CHKS accreditation provides credible and independent recognition of your commitment to quality improvement for your patients, Board and external regulators.
