Musicians from local theatre company Chicken Shed had North Mid’s older patients singing and dancing during a performance last month for Frailty Awareness Month.
Patients on two of the Trust’s care of the elderly wards were left smiling from ear to ear and asked for song after song from duo Finn Kebbe and Eloise Runnette.
The musicians were a hit after singing classics from the likes of The Beatles, Elvis Presley and The Kinks.
Patients were full of praise including 87-year-old David Branch, who was one of many that were singing along with the musicians.
He said: “It was really uplifting for us patients. It put a big smile on our faces and it was really enjoyable.”
Musicians, Finn and Eloise, said: “It was so heart-warming to see so many patients sing along, bop their feet and join in. We could see the boost it gave them all and we loved every minute singing songs that clearly brought back so many memories for them all.
“We’d love to come back and see if there are any more patients that want to join our band.”
Finn and Eloise are part of Chicken Shed – a local inclusive theatre company that creates theatre for all ages and runs successful outreach projects, and education courses for young people from all social and economic backgrounds, cultures and abilities.
Alongside our friends at Chicken Shed, older patients at North Mid had plenty of special visits all aimed to boost patient experience and morale throughout November.
This includes multiple visits from the Trust’s volunteer Keith and his handsome therapy dog Teddy and our volunteer magician Joe with both receiving a big thumbs-up from patients.
