An update has been published on the Start Well public consultation which set out proposed changes to maternity, neonatal, and children’s surgical services in north central London (NCL).

The following reports have been published on the NCL Integrated Care System’s website:

  1. A consultation methodology, activity and reach report – this outlines the approach taken to consultation, the activities carried out and the number of people reached.
  2. Consultation interim findings report – this is from the Opinion Research Service, the independent organisation analysing the consultation responses, and sets out the high level emerging themes from the responses analysed so far. There will be a more detailed evaluation report published later this year once all the feedback has been analysed.
  3. Proposed next steps – this paper sets out the additional work that will be taking place, subject to Integrated Care Board (ICB) approval, before any decisions are taken.

These papers will be presented at the ICB’s meeting on Tuesday 23 July, 2024.

The NCL Integrated Care Board is developing the decision-making business case, and a decision-making meeting will take place in public by early 2025. Further details will be published later this year.

In the meantime, no decisions have been taken on changes to maternity, neonatal or children’s surgical services in NCL and services will continue to run as usual.

You can read more about the NCL Start Well programme on the Integrated Care System’s website.

The consultation, led by the NCL Integrated Care Board, captured feedback from thousands of local people, staff and stakeholders. Thank you to everyone who took part in the consultation which closed on Sunday 17 March 2024.
