Following extensive public and staff engagement, proposals to change how maternity and neonatal services will be delivered across north central London (NCL) will be considered by the NCL Integrated Care Board (ICB) and NHS England (Specialised Commissioning).

They will meet on Tuesday 25 March to consider the next steps and make a final decision about maternity and neonatal services.

NCL ICB is the NHS body which plans, co-ordinates, and commissions services across the sector and has led Start Well on behalf of hospital trusts, including the Royal Free London.

Start Well started in November 2021, to consider changes to how and where some maternity, neonatal and children’s surgical services could be in delivered the future in response to declining birth rates and how people were accessing NHS services.

Its aim is to ensure pregnant women and people, babies, children and young people, and families receive safe, high-quality care for many years to come. Read more on NCL ICB's website.

The engagement periods, which captured feedback from thousands of staff, local people and service users, have now finished.

A detailed decision-making business case will be published on Tuesday 18 March which will outline evidence and data to support the ICB to make a final decision one week later.

The decision-making business case will be available via the NCL ICB website on Tuesday 18 March.
