Construction work has started to create a new garden on the fourth-floor balcony, accessible from the intensive care unit (ICU) at the Royal Free Hospital.

The trust is committed to supporting staff health and wellbeing. The garden, which is being funded by the Royal Free Charity, the Ezra Umarpeh charity and the Cecil Rosen Foundation, will provide staff who work in the ICU with a dedicated outside space to focus on their wellbeing. It will be somewhere they can unwind in a calm, relaxed environment.

Work will take place between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday (except bank holidays).

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

The garden is due to open in autumn 2023.
