Before the appointment

Please ensure that your ears are free of wax prior to the appointment by consulting your GP. The appointment may not be able to be completed if your ear/s are blocked with earwax. If you feel that you do not need this appointment, please contact the audiology team. If you require additional support for the appointment, for example an interpreter or patient transport, please contact us in advance.

During the appointment

The audiologist will call you into the consultation room and ask you a series of questions which will help identify the hearing difficulties you are experiencing and allow the audiologist to form a picture of what is going on. This will enable them to identify what needs to be done to help you. They will then examine your ears.

Your hearing aid/s will be adapted to ensure that the concerns you raised are considered when adjusting the settings and are at a level where you will receive the full benefits from them.

Please note that it will take time to adjust to the changes made so please give it a trial period to adapt to the change. If you feel you require another fine tune appointment or are not happy with the changes, please let us know.

Please feel free to bring any prepared questions you may have; the audiologist will be more than happy to answer them.

The appointment will last approximately 30 minutes.
