Who can attend?

Our course is open to parents, carers, expectant mums and dads, grandparents, or anyone who cares for a child in Enfield or Haringey. Please note that this course is exclusively for local residents of these boroughs. Parents are welcome to bring their babies, especially if they are breastfeeding. We also have childminders on hand to help you focus and participate in practical activities.

Can I bring children with me?

Yes. If you need help with childcare, please contact us to arrange assistance. While we offer a crèche at some sites, this is not available at all locations. Babies under 12 months who are breast/bottle-fed, as well as children where childcare cannot be arranged, will always be accommodated.

To ensure availability, please register and email us at northmid.abcparents@nhs.net if you require childcare support. Strict ratios must be followed, so let us know your needs in advance.

Are these courses free?

Yes. These courses are completely free, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate, regardless of income. Funding is provided by the Enfield Training Hub, North Central London Clinical Commissioning Group, and Public Health Haringey. We are deeply grateful for their continued support in helping us reach the community.

Do we get certificates?

Yes. While this course is designed to boost parents' confidence in caring for their own children, it is informal and does not meet employer certification requirements. After completing both course dates, participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance and leave equipped with skills to confidently manage an unwell child.

Will food and drinks be provided?

Yes. Light refreshments including tea, coffee, juice, fruit, and snacks will be available. All refreshments are nut-free, and we strive to cater to all dietary needs, including gluten-free and dairy-free options.

How can I get more involved?

We are always excited to collaborate with proactive and caring parents and carers. This course was developed after listening to parents who visited our A&E, and we want to keep improving and offering these sessions for free.

If you’re interested in becoming a parent champion or supporting our work in any way, please email us at northmid.abcparents@nhs.net with your ideas, questions, or offers of support. Your help is invaluable, and we thank you in advance.

How will my information be used?

Your registration details will be used to send you updates about our Child Health and Lifesaving courses. We will also email resources to support you and your family.

To ensure these courses remain free and effective, we may review anonymized data you provide to measure how well we are reaching diverse communities and evaluate our training outcomes. If you have any questions about how your information is used, feel free to ask during the training session.
