The children’s community nursing team consists of highly trained and experienced paediatric nurses who provide care and support to babies, children and young people aged 0 to 15 (and 16 to 18-year-olds with complex needs) who live in Haringey and the ‘N’ postcodes of Enfield.  

They also care for cancer patients in the ‘EN’ postcodes of Enfield. 

The team work collaboratively with families to provide care at home, school and in the community to prevent or reduce hospital stays for patients with short or long-term health needs and those with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. 

Services include:

  • post-operative support 

  • wound and burn care 

  • co-ordination and monitoring of complex care and medical needs 

  • oxygen therapy and/or oxygen monitoring and cardiac assessments 

  • feeding management and support including care of nasogastric and gastrostomy tubes 

  • administration of intravenous and intramuscular antibiotics and subcutaneous injections 

  • education and teaching for families  

  • end of life care for children in their own homes in conjunction with local palliative care teams 

  • chemotherapy 

Our nursing team is made up of: 

  • Anne Biggs — matron for the children’s community nursing team (CCN), clinical nurse specialists, and the babies, children and young people hospital at home team. 

  • Rosana Da Silva — CCN team leader and community nurse (with extensive experience in paediatric nursing).

  • Roshni Barber — community nurse (with extensive experience in paediatric nursing).

  • Arlene Clarke — community nurse (with extensive experience in paediatric nursing). 

  • Yasmin Almond — community nurse (with extensive experience in paediatric nursing). 

  • Danielle Gordon — community nurse (with extensive experience in paediatric nursing). 

  • Antoinette Fisher — senior healthcare support worker.

 

To refer into our service, please follow these steps:

1. Please check your referral requires one of the following services that the children’s community nursing team provides: 

  • oncology support and care 

  • wound and burn management 

  • oxygen therapy and/or monitoring and cardiac assessments 

  • intravenous antibiotics/infusions (duration of 30 minutes) and intramuscular antibiotics 

  • injections 

  • nasogastric care and education 

  • gastrostomy care 

  • respiratory assessments 

  • cardiac conditions 

  • care for children with life limiting conditions and complex needs 

  • end of life care 

  • post operative support 

  • intramuscular and subcutaneous injections 

  • education and teaching for families 

  • end of life care 

  • chemotherapy 

  • young person with special educational needs up to the age of 18
