Biography
Mr Mitry is a consultant ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon at the Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust.
He graduated medicine and surgery with honours from Trinity College Dublin and began clinical training at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital in Dublin before completing a PhD at the University of Edinburgh.
His PhD study was on the epidemiological, clinical and genetic associations of retinal detachment. Mr Mitry completed higher surgical training in London and was appointed as a vitreoretinal fellow at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
His clinical interests include medical and surgical retinal disease, laser treatment and microincision cataract surgery. He treats cataract, complex cataract, laser treatment, dry eyes, blepharitis, trauma, retinal detachment, diabetic eye disease, retinal vascular disease and macular degeneration. Mr Mitry has performed thousands of cataract, vitreoretinal and laser procedures with an exceptional level of patient satisfaction.
Mr Mitry continues to conduct clinical research and has an active role in surgical training of junior trainees.
