Biography

Professor Anna Maria Geretti (MD, PhD, FRCPath, DHMSA) is a medical virologist with extensive experience spanning clinical practice, academic research, teaching, and pharmaceutical development. She practices at the North Middlesex University Hospital in London and holds a professorship in infectious diseases at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy.

With more than 300 publications and an H-index of 66, her research covers laboratory, clinical, and epidemiological studies, including collaborations with the World Health Organization and field projects in Africa. Her clinical expertise spans the full spectrum of viral infections, with a focus on HIV and viral hepatitis, driving advancements in antiviral therapies, drug resistance monitoring, and diagnostics.

Professor Geretti contributes to formulating national and international guidelines and policies, shaping evidence-based approaches to infectious diseases. Committed to a patient-centred approach, she integrates research into care to optimise outcomes for individuals with complex infectious diseases.
