The community gynaecology clinic at the Royal Free Hospital is open on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9am to 5pm.

It offers the following services:

A range of different contraceptive methods can be provided, including contraceptive pills, injection, implant, and intrauterine coils (IUD and IUS), as well as implant or coil removal. 

Emergency contraception, including the emergency pill and emergency coil, can also be provided.

The clinic offers a specialist contraception service for deep implant removals or coil removals with lost threads under ultrasound guidance.

The contraception clinic is held on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. 

You can be referred by a GP or other health professional, or book an appointment directly by calling the clinic .

This service includes information about different options for an unwanted pregnancy, as well as access to trained women’s health counsellors if needed or desired. 

Both medical (pills) and surgical (procedure) abortion methods are available, and the team will discuss your options with you.

Smear tests are carried out at the clinic on Monday and Tuesday afternoons.

You must be due a smear test (you will have usually received a letter inviting you for your smear test) for the team to be able to provide this for you.

You can book in for smear tests directly by calling the clinic.

This service is led by a British Menopause Society-accredited specialist.

To access the service, you will need a referral from a GP or other health professional
