The Royal Free London Private Patients Unit (PPU) is part of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.
It combines the convenience, comfort and personalised care of a private hospital with the state-of-the-art services, technology and professional excellence that would be expected from a top London teaching hospital.
The PPU is based on the 12th floor of the Royal Free Hospital. It has a relaxed and friendly environment, with a beautiful view. Our outpatient clinic, the Lyndhurst Rooms, is also based on the 12th floor of the Royal Free Hospital.
There is also a private healthcare facility in High Barnet, Hadley Wood Hospital which offers private diagnostics, imaging and surgery.
The PPU is wholly owned by the Royal Free London and is part of the NHS. It provides care to non-NHS national and international patients.
All profit that the PPU’s hospitals generate is reinvested into the trust for the benefit of all our patients, for example, supplying vital hospital equipment, funding nursing posts, and supporting leading edge medical research, patient care, and education.

Hadley Wood Hospital is a private healthcare facility located off Barnet High Street, close to shops, restaurants and other local amenities.
It offers private patients access to some of London’s most experienced specialists, all of whom work as NHS consultants at the Royal Free Hospital, Barnet Hospital and Chase Farm Hospital.

The Private Patients Unit (PPU) at the Royal Free Hospital encompasses three dedicated private inpatient wards and supporting day care and hospitality facilities. All rooms have amazing views on to Hampstead Heath or London’s landmarks, as well as:

- satellite television with remote control
- telephone with direct dial numbers
- nurse call facilities
We provide a friendly, personalised service by a dedicated team of nurses, administrative and hospitality staff to help our patients have a safe and pleasant stay.

Our private patients have quick and easy access to the consultant of their choice for consultations in our dedicated outpatient clinic, the Lyndhurst Rooms, which is located on the 12th floor of the Royal Free Hospital.
All the diagnostic facilities of the hospital are available under one roof, from simple blood tests to the most complex diagnostic scans, including:
- pathology
- nuclear scans including PET
- MRI/CT/Ultrasound/X-ray
- cardiology: ECG and ECHO
We provide in-house diagnostics, high-quality interpretation of results and the ability to consult across the whole professional community at the hospital.
For self-pay and private medical insurance, referrals are through GPs, medical insurance or via self-referral.
